Derek founded Koha Architects with Gary Wyatt and has over 17 years of experience in architectural practice.

Derek has consistently produced imaginative responses to many challenging briefs. He has led many prestigious developments including the creation of new live recording studios for MTV in Leicester Square, the redevelopment of Mercer’s Company- Covent Garden Portfolio, Sanctum Soho – the conversion of a listed building into a boutique hotel, redevelopment of The Queens’ Club, and a gallery refit at The Tate Modern.

Derek supports sustainable design solutions and has successfully completed a significant development of eco homes in Oxfordshire that utilised locally sourced, recycled materials, rainwater recycling and micro generation.

Receiving his BA(Hons) from the University of Sheffield, he completed his architectural education at the University of Manchester, the Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya, Barcelona, and the South Bank University, London. During his education Derek gained experience of working on site with tradesmen with the specific intention of understanding the reality of construction work.
