Planning Approval at Redruth Site. Housing for Vulnerable Adults

Koha Architects are delighted to be leading this project forward and are excited to announce that Planning approval has been granted for the conversion of this prominent building in the heart of the historic centre of Redruth.

Significant improvements are to be made to the existing fabric to safeguard the longevity of the building whilst incorporating a mixed-use brief that will accommodate vulnerable adults whilst maintaining the commercial tenancies on Alma Place.

Thermal and structural improvements are planned for the building which will reduce energy use through heat loss and provide a safe platform to accommodate new internal partition arrangements and openings. A communal area adjacent to a rear, south-facing courtyard garden will create an informal relaxed setting for the building users. Improvements in passive surveillance and lighting will help to mitigate anti-social behaviour at the rear of the property. Accessible provisions will be incorporated into the refurbishment work which includes a new lift and toilets.
