Old Cathedral School Progress! – October 2016

Over the last 4 years Koha have been working on the Old Cathedral School for Truro Cathedral. One of the biggest challenges in the refurbishment is in the opening up of the south-west archway to the left of the main entrance and install a glazed screen.

In the last month or so, Nova Construction, with the help of Stonemason Specialist Reuben Marsh, have carefully propped the Arch and removed the existing free stone and granite blocks in order to cast a reinforced concrete structure that follows the profile of the arch in order to install the glazing which will be in three panels.

The demolitions included the careful removal of the Memorial and Foundation Stones which will be relocated to the adjacent cloister in a final location to be agreed with Cornwall Council Conservation Officer.

The installation of the glazing will be one of the final tasks in bringing the project to a conclusion mid-2017.
