prodigal upg studio

Koha are delighted to be working alongside Prodigal UPG to design their new rehearsal & studio space in Par, Cornwall. A community driven project, which will bring together local, national and international, graduate, emergent, established and internationally recognised artists. Artists will be able to hire the space at a commercial rate, but the intention is to balance this by offering subsidised and free development opportunities to those artists who are able to work with the local and regional community, particularly at-risk young people and young people seeking opportunities in the creative arts.

The design aims to replace several semi-derelict garages with a purpose built, state of the art development space. The new design includes an indoor studio with space to rehearse outside, and temporary accessible accommodation to sleep visitors.

With sustainability at the heart of the proposal, the building will incorporate extensive sustainable energy systems, which will both lower running costs and maximise sustainability. These include an Air Source Heat Pump, photo voltaics, greywater harvesting, an allotment, bee garden, and promoting the use of sustainable travel with its connections to the nearby railway.
