New Spa, Budleigh Salterton

Koha Architects were initially appointed by the Client to draw up a design concept prepared by others and submit it for a Planning Application. We then developed some alternative concept ideas which were well received and Planning approvals and Building regulations permission was obtained. The project is now on site and completion is anticipated in early Spring.

The concept is based upon two solid box forms containing a lounge and bar in one and spa and sauna facilities in the other which both have large south-facing windows with dramatic expansive sea views. The space between each ‘box’ incorporates an outside terrace and shower. The spa is located above a new double garage and plant / storage room clad with a brick surround that grounds the building into its setting. The upper levels are clad in timber so that the spa nestles into its tree-lined surroundings and hovers above a future outdoor pool to be carried out in Phase 2.
